Flashback ten years. My neighborhood, Northern Liberties, was still developing and parking wasn’t an issue. Now, we have to buy permits to park on our street and we’re lucky to find a spot. What’s up with those South Philly people who put lawn chairs in front of their house to protect their space? How come double parking is tolerated here? Remember when there were places around old city or when we could park at a meter for thirty minutes with a quarter. The cost has now quadrupled. Imagine carrying around that much change in your pocket. A parking ticket cost $9, now $36. My object is a free parking paper cutout from the Monopoly game. Free parking. I wish! As much as I can complain, really, this is a great city. What other metropolitan surrounds their city hall with game pieces, we do!
