“Half Moon ear-studs”
Through the process of making, there are moments when something that would normally be overlooked or tossed appears interesting or attractive. These painted porcelain slices originated from the remnants a larger sculptural object. I was interested in the repetition and the scale of these forms. It wasn’t necessarily a mind-blowing revelation but made me more aware of how my effort and attention could transform something that would normally be cast away.
I lived in Philadelphia between 2011 and 2015. I worked as a Resident Artist at the esteemed Clay Studio where I found many opportunities in the studio to expand my practice, which includes a line of ceramic wearables, part of which you see here.
