These are rubber band bracelets gifted to me by wonderful children/little scholars I worked with in art and sports programs at Belmont Charter School in West Philadelphia. In 2014 rubber band bracelets were all the rage, a huge fad among kids across the country. It was seen as just another thing kids do when they’re bored, but I always loved them because, to me, they were art.

These kids created, mastered, and perfected so many intricate and difficult designs just using tiny colored rubber bands. Sometimes I would place “bulk custom orders” which I insisted on paying them for, so they would know that their hard work and talent is worth a lot more than they think. I hope they are all still creating amazing things.
