I was the only Republican where I worked. Some of the co-workers were surprised to learn that I was a Republican.

When Philadelphia hosted the Republican National Convention in 2000, I bought this souvenir key chain because I wanted to have a piece of history. Preparing for the RNC, the whole city was united to beautify this Democratic-leaning city.

I could feel the positive energy and the pride of the citizens. They even elected the new bus stop shelters along the Chestnut Street in Center City. These bus stop shelters still remind me of the welcoming spirit of the City of Brotherly Love (and Sisterly Affection).

George W. Bush won the election that year and he became the 43rd President of the United States. American people lived through history during the eight years of the Bush Administration. Even before his presidency, who can forget the Florida election recount that occurred during the weeks after Election Day.

I often think of Al Gore.
