Growing up in the suburbs of the city, I always considered Philadelphia my home. Ever since I can remember, my dad took me to see the Philadelphia Phillies play. I never got to see my dad pitch on the mound, but he was a professional pitcher for my home team in the 70s and 80s. I would go to the games and picture my dad throwing curveballs right abound the batters. This hat was the first Phillies hat I have ever owned. I learned the love of the game at Veterans Stadium wearing it. The most wonderful moment I had at Vet was walking out on the filed wearing this hat. I got to change the number for the countdown until the stadium was blown up and rebuilt as Citizen’s Bank Park. Every time I think of Philadelphia, the history of my family and the Phillies remind me that I am home.
