I have lived in Philadelphia all my life. From when I was eight years old, I wanted to be an artist but, after graduating as an art major from Germantown High in 1961, my parents would not let me major in art at Temple U… Too many hippies! So I worked as an educator and counselor for thirty-eight years in the Philadelphia School System, always doing art as a hobby. When I retired in 2002, I took my own advice to follow your dream and did art full time. In 2005, I went to the Philly Fringe Festival for the first time. I wanted to be a part of it! Since 2006, I have done mixed media memoir workshops inviting the public to join me to make portraits of various topics in the window of The Book Trader at 2nd and Market. This is my eleventh year and the topic this year is Clothing: Stories from the Closet. The public is invited to workshops in September.
