From kindergarten up until my freshman year of high school, I was a victim of bullying. So as you can imagine, it is a continuous struggle for me to be confident with myself without so many insecurities running through my head. Not many people believe it because it’s something that I don’t tend to share. It took me a long time to accept the fact that if it weren’t for the people who teased me growing up, I wouldn’t have ended up where I am now: here, living in the beautiful and vibrant city of Philadelphia, living my lifelong dream of making art. The object that I decided to submit for My Philadelphia Story, is a bracelet that was given to me by someone who really impacted my life. The bracelet is engraved with the words “You’re Amazing,” and for me it served as a constant reminder of not allowing your insecurities to cloud your mind. It is something near and dear to my heart, and overall became pivotal in learning to love myself. Its important to remember that the road that you are traveling at the moment may seem quite bumpy, and at times you feel like it may be getting too overwhelming to handle. Despite this, it is vital to remind ourselves that we are amazing, and even if we fall down along way, it doesn’t change that fact. Although it has only been a short time that I’ve had this bracelet, I feel as though I am in a good place now, and that I am able to pass it on. I only hope that the people who may walk by this box and read it, are able to use the saying “I’m Amazing” and believe that they are too.
