This is a pin that we made for the Temple University Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning/Ally (LGBTQA) alumni in the fall of 2012. I began work full time at Temple in 2002. The campus is very different than it was nearly fifteen years ago, especially in terms of outreach to LGBTQA students. In 2005, I learned about an opportunity to showcase Temple’s growing efforts to support LGBTQA students. I set about drafting and then submitted to our Vice President of Student Affairs the text that was ultimately featured in The Advocate College Guide for LGBT Students.

Additionally, I was part of the inaugural group to develop the Temple University LGBT Alumni Association in the mid 2000’s. After I graduated myself in 2012, I became more involved to really kick off the association that now numbers 500 plus alumni members.

When I look at this object, I am particularly proud of work done to make campus inclusive for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning / Ally (LGBTQA) students here in the City of Philadelphia.
