I am a community artist and educator from Philadelphia. My work explores human connection to nature and responsibility to the planet to ensure generations to come, while restoring connections in fractured neighborhoods. I currently teach Sustainable Furniture Design at an inner-city high-school and paint murals in the city of Philadelphia. My work has made me uncomfortable and vulnerable, yet sturdier and compassionate. As a teaching artist, I have grown through the concrete. Art is a powerful tool that can generate change on a personal, local and global level. The heart of the city needs the healing power of the heart chakra. Not only is green the energy of love and transformation, but green is also the color of growth, life, and balance. There is a great need for green healing in this concrete jungle full of homelessness, poverty, injustice, homicides, violence and abuse. Every night I do a loving-kindness-meditation for myself, my students, my community and my city. You cannot give unless you are full.
