One of my favorite things about Philadelphia are all the places to run.  As an ultra-marathoner, I tend to cover a lot of miles, so it is great to find locations where you can run uninterrupted and for long distances.  Fairmont Park proved to be just that place.  For my weekly “long run” I would run from my house in Brewerytown, and take a series of trails that would lead me past Valley Green on Forbidden Drive.  I could cover twenty-five or more miles, without repeating anything in the same direction.  Fairmont Park is a real treasure; it allowed me to explore parts of the city I had no idea existed, while keeping my runs interesting with the diverse habitats that are connected by a vast network of trails.
