I have chosen a US Flag and a Schoolhouse, because they represent all that embodies independence and education. As a young woman of the 1960’s, I found many limitations for women in my small hometown. My education here gave me the skills to acquire a teaching position just after graduation, thus enabling me to begin my road to independence. I could provide for myself, make my own decisions (good or bad) and live a life of my choosing. I am happy for the opportunities I have received. Thank you “City of Brotherly Love”!
